WEATHER UPDATE: Tropical Storm Seniang has Weakened (December 31, 2014)

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Storm Seniang, International name “Jangmi”, has weakened into Tropical Depression and is expected to exit Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday morning, according to PAGASA’s weather bulletin update issued at 10:00 AM today, December 31, 2014.





The center of Bagyong Seniang is located at 245 km South Southeast of Cuyo, Palawan, as of 9:00 AM, with Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. Seniang is forecasted to move West Southwest at 13 kph and expected to hit the following locations:


  •  220 km South of Puerto Princesa City by Thursday morning
  •  500 km Southwest of Puerto Princesa City or Outside the Philippine Area of  Responsibility (PAR) by Friday morning.
Estimated rainfall amount is from 7.5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under PSWS#1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas.

Public Storm Warning signals elsewhere are now lifted.

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
