MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Storm Seniang, International name “Jangmi”,
has accelerated and is now moving towards Cuyo Island, this according to
PAGASA’s weather bulletin update issued at 5:00 PM today, December 30, 2014.
UPDATE 6:29 PM- A total of 39 were declared dead due to tropical storm Seniang.
The center of Bagyong Seniang is located at 108 km Southwest of Iloilo City, as of
4:00 PM, with Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness
of up to 80 kph. The tropical storm is forecasted to move West at 19 kph and
expected to hit the following locations:
• 110 km West of Puerto Princesa City by
Wednesday afternoon
• 500 km Southwest
of Puerto Princesa City or 260 km South of Pagasa island by Thursday afternoon
Public Storm
Signal Warning #2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is
expected in at least 24 hrs) is raised at the following Provinces:
- Cuyo Island
- Palawan
- Guimaras
- Southern Antique
- Southern Iloilo
These areas will have stormy weather
with heavy to intense rains. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas are
alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Public Storm
Signal Warning #1(winds of 30 - 60 kph is
expected in at least
36 hours) is raised at the following Provinces:

- Negros Occidental
- Aklan
- Capiz
- Rest of Iloilo
- Rest of Antique
These areas will have moderate to heavy rains
with occasional gusty winds. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas are
alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Estimated
rainfall amount is from 7.5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300
km diameter of the Tropical Storm.
Residents in low lying and
mountainous areas of the provinces with PSWS#2 and PSWS#1 are alerted against
possible flashfloods and landslides.
Ocean waves may reach up to 5
meters.
Fisherfolks and those with small
seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon, Visayas
and over the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.
Public Storm Warning signals
elsewhere are now lifted.
The public and the disaster risk
reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate
actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11PM today.
